Etsy Update - New Miniature Strawberry Tart and Cheesecake

It may well be the SIMP show in four day's time and the preparations for it are keeping us really busy, but that's not stopping us from popping a couple of new pieces on Etsy for you!

We'll do a SIMP preview post in the next couple of days (or check out our Twitter, Flickr or Instagram feeds now), but while we're working on that, here are today's new miniatures...

Friday Flashback - Chocolate Miniatures!

Today we resurrect a feature that we started when we launched this blog - Friday Flashback!

It's a chance for us to re-visit some of our earlier work and to show newcomers to "Paris Miniatures" some pieces that they may have missed.

Are you ready to go back...?

New Miniatures in our Etsy Store

There are a couple of new items in our Etsy store today and neither of them is a FOOTBALL!  That's a soccer ball for our US readers ;)

That's about the only reference we're going to make to the World Cup for now, neither of us being big fans of football/soccer.  That might change if France or England do well....never say never!

So, onto today's miniatures...

Paris Brest & St Honoré Pastries

The Paris Brest and the St Honoré are among the classics when it comes to French pastries. Emma's been making them in miniature since she was a young girl (and eating the real ones for just as long!)

When I moved to France, I fell in love with the Paris Brest and it's still my go-to thing when faced with display counters chock-full of colourful pastries of all shapes and sizes and too little time to choose.  In a world of uncertainty, disappointments and very expensive pastries, I can always be pretty sure that wherever I buy them, a Paris Brest will not disappoint!

Anyway...we're about to make some more mini versions of these pastries for the SIMP as we're down to the last ones.  So we've listed these last ones on Etsy at a reduced price for those who still haven't added these pieces to your miniature pastry collections (...and why not?!)

As a side note, this is one of those occasions when a miniature really benefits from being seen close up. Check out the first picture of the Paris Brest at the top of this post full size and tell me that it couldn't be a real one...

Trust me, as a Paris Brest expert!

Liquorice Allsorts - English Candy Jars

Liquorice allsorts is one of those culinary creations that started accidentally when a tray of candy samples about to be shown to a client was dropped.  Hastily and haphazardly re-arranged by the clumsy employee, the client was intrigued by the new creations.  The Bassett company quickly put these candies into production.

That was in 1899 and ever since, they have been a part of every British kids' childhood as well as being popular in many other countries.

They look great when they're all mixed up and so when we made some miniature ones for our Etsy store, we decided that rather than putting them in a packet, the best way to see these colourful treats would be in a beautiful glass jar.

And here they are!

You can find them in our Etsy store here.

Do you like allsorts?  Do they have even them in your country?  Let us know in the comments :)
